Japanese Architecture Inspired Studio

Project Description

Currently under construction, my personal studio for Studio 35 Design in Walthamstow is inspired by traditional Japanese architecture, blending aesthetics with modern functionality.

Project Highlights

  • Japanese Tea House Inspiration: Drawing from a recent trip to Japan, the studio features a traditional structure with extensive glazing and privacy slats, reminiscent of a Japanese tea house.
  • Interior Design: The interior will showcase birch plywood walls and micro cement flooring, complemented by electric underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove to ensure year-round comfort.
  • Maximized Ceiling Height: Despite planning restrictions limiting the height to 2.5 meters, the studio’s internal height reaches 2.2 meters. This was achieved by creating a minimal upstand and excavating down to allow for insulation and a waterproof concrete floor, closely aligning with the external floor level.

This unique project is a testament to Studio 35 Design’s commitment to blending traditional inspiration with modern living, promising a serene and functional workspace.
